Day 8 - One Last Thing to do in Steamboat then over the mountains to Grand Junction

Image
Day 7 was a jam packed as it could be, so we had to save our other favorite Steamboat pastime for the morning of Day 8.  When we first moved to Colorado in 2006 the kids and I spent a lot of time in Steamboat at my parent's house while Jer was in training classes and out of town for work.  I had a summer membership to the Old Town Hot Springs that year, the kids loved this place.  Since then every time we come to town we make this one of our stops.   The pools are heated by hot springs, the pools are hotter the closer you get to the actual hot spring and they get a little cooler each pool you get to. Here's Cowboy attempting the climbing wall:   After the pool it was time to hit the road again.  The drive while uneventful as far as travel goes, the views were magnificent.  Once arriving to Grand Junction we tried and failed to order pizza (apparently the first go I ordered from a take and bake place!  I mean really though if I'm go...

Day 7 - Steamboat Springs

With only 1 full day in Steamboat we wanted to try to hit all the favorites.  We got up, had breakfast, and decided to head down to "Little Toots Park" where the kids spent a lot of time when they were little.  It's right next to the river walk by the Yampa so we went down played on the rocks, just like the old days.  Pictures by the musician statues were a must.  There was racing and swinging musical instrument climbing a very steep slide and a very scary, very high rock wall to walk across.  After play time at the park we went to the river to mess around.  Had to get 2 pics from the bridge to be able to see everyone around the trees. Then it was off to down town....                                                                     ...
