Day 6 - To the Mountains

It was so sad to leave our friends in Aurora, but there was a tinge of excitement at the prospect of being back in Steamboat Springs again.  It truly is one of my (Sally's) favorite places in the world and so the adventure continued on.

So we headed up East I-70, and what do you know, we hit traffic.  Sitting in the traffic (road work season) was no good while pulling the little blue car, so we pulled over and unhooked.  Mal, Aidan, and Willa took the little blue car duties while the rest of us stayed in the bus.

Shoot, I can't believe I almost forgot this... I must digress, while loading up the bus at Cupp's Jer noticed that we lost something..."What did we lose?" you may ask.  The response is about 5 feet of 3.5" diameter exhaust pipe.  Not to worry, just a short drive up Federal we were able to pick up some pipe and we were on our way.  But, there is a reward for those of you driving around Aurora - a case of beer of your choice if you fine the missing pipe.

We saw some prong horn antelope along the way.

The views are amazing.  When your surrounded by trees a lot of the time you forget that wide open spaces exist where you can see for miles.

There was more construction on Rt. 9.  We were at a standstill for enough time to get out of the car and visit with the kids from the other car.

Man, the bus looks good up in the mountains.

The views just keep coming...

A bit ominous, but a little rain and hail never really hurt anyone!

Finally, Rabbit Ears Pass, the sign we were close to our destination.

There it is, our home for the next 2 nights!  We went to City Market and got some spaghetti fixins and stuff for a home cooked breakfast.  After a feast it was time for bed... big day tomorrow.
